Looking for a snus free sample in the UK? Here is the honest answer: nobody can legally post you snus here, and ALP does not send out free cans. What we do offer is the next best thing, a full can of nicotine pouches for £1 so you can try before you commit.
The short version
- Free snus samples
- Not available in the UK. Snus (tobacco under the lip) has been banned from sale since 1992, so no UK shop can hand out samples.
- What you can try
- Tobacco-free nicotine pouches. Same format, same spot under the lip, legal to buy as an adult.
- ALP trial offer
- One can of ALP for £1, in any of our 8 flavours, 6mg strength, one trial can per order, added to any purchase.
- Who can order
- Adults aged 18 and over. Age is verified at checkout.
Why there is no snus free sample in the UK
Traditional snus is a moist tobacco product. Selling it has been illegal in the UK since the 1992 oral tobacco regulations, and the rules do not change just because something is given away. A shop that posts you a "free snus sample" is either breaking the law or sending you something that is not snus at all.
What most people in Britain actually mean when they search for a snus sample is a nicotine pouch: a small white pouch that sits under the lip, contains nicotine, and has no tobacco leaf in it. Those are legal, and that is what we make. If you want the full background, read why nicotine pouches are the UK snus alternative or our guide to snus vs nicotine pouches.
Try ALP for £1 instead
We do not post out free cans. Free samples mean a lot of nicotine going to people who never asked to be nicotine users, and that is not what ALP is about. For adults who already use nicotine and want to see whether pouches suit them, we keep the first step as cheap as it gets:
- One can of Try ALP for £1, with 20 pouches inside, the same can we sell at full price.
- Pick any of the 8 flavours: Chilled Mint, Sweet Mint, Spearmint, Frostbite, Mountain Wintergreen, Tropical Fruit, Cherries & Berries or Grape Ice.
- Strength 6mg, our lightest level, so a first try is not overwhelming.
- One trial can per order, added to any other item in your basket.
If you already know you want a full-strength can, start with the nicotine pouch strength guide and go straight to the full range.
How the £1 trial can works
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the Try ALP £1 can and choose a flavour. |
| 2 | Add it to your basket together with any other product, for example a matched can in your preferred strength. |
| 3 | Confirm your age at checkout. We sell to adults aged 18 and over only. |
| 4 | Your order is dispatched within 1 to 2 business days. |
The trial can is limited to one per order so that it stays a trial and not a discount loophole. If you order again later, the full-price cans are the way to go.
What a nicotine pouch feels like compared with snus
If you have used snus abroad, the switch is small. The pouch goes in the same place under the upper lip, you leave it there for 20 to 60 minutes, and you take it out and bin it afterwards. The differences are what is missing: no tobacco taste, no brown juice, no staining, nothing to spit out. Flavour comes entirely from what is added, which is why mint and fruit profiles dominate.
If you are completely new to oral nicotine, the how to use nicotine pouches guide walks through the first can step by step, including the tingle under the lip that most first-time users notice.
A word on nicotine
This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance. ALP pouches are made for adults who already use nicotine. If nicotine is not already part of your life, a £1 can is not a reason to start, and we would rather you did not.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a free snus sample in the UK?
No. Snus cannot legally be sold or given away in the UK. What you can try are tobacco-free nicotine pouches, for example the ALP trial can for £1.
Is the £1 can a full can?
Yes. It is the same 20-pouch can we sell at full price, in 6mg strength, limited to one per order.
Can I order the £1 can on its own?
The trial can is an add-on to an order, so it goes in the basket together with at least one other product.
Which flavour should I try first?
Chilled Mint and Sweet Mint are the most popular first picks. If you prefer fruit, Tropical Fruit or Cherries & Berries are the usual starting points.
Do I need to be 18?
Yes. ALP sells to adults aged 18 and over only, and age is verified at checkout. From 29 October 2026 the Tobacco and Vapes Act also makes it illegal to sell nicotine pouches to under-18s.
